A night at the hospital

With the pandemic state declared and the constant talk of the swine
flu, Kelly and I had the sad opportunity to see how it looks inside
the Ottawa General Hospital on a Friday night.

Not going to the ER for shortness of breath, cough OR fever, Kevin had
to go have his leg checked out, after having excruciating pains all
day. It looks bad, the emergency room full of people wearing masks and
constantly walking back and forth to the hand sanitizing station, we
could smell the sickness.

In between pain spasm, we kept ourselves entertained by blogging,
talking about stock photography and dreaming of Thai food... Which we
supposed to cook for dinner, rapidely replaced with a visit to the
walk-in clinic, greeted by the rudest receptionist ever saw.. Then
transfered to the ER, after the doctor jokingly made a comment about
the condition of kevin's leg looking like "flesh-eating disease".

Despite the medias with their daily scares on the H1N1, the ER was
extremely fast... We didn't wait a single second to get to the
screening process. At that point, they decided that it would be best
to get some blood work done and plugged Kevin on an IV. Again,
everything so far was instant, bloodwork included. Kelly didn't even
have time to get a wheelchair and Kevin was called to the other
processing booth.

We had fine time with bloodwork, Kelly not being able to look at
people getting needles... Decided to walk away. Good thing since the
nurse, which was very professional, had a little blood mishap while
putting in the IV, spilling blood all over kevin's jeans.

Back in the waiting room, we suddently had the urge to get some
food... So Kelly is now gone, with kevin's debit card, on the food
hunt.... The question now is... How will we eat with masks on?

More to come, in a few hours!

The Event & Co. - Our exclusive choice for Event planning

It all started last March, we were approached by a group of Algonquin College students in event planning to create a logo/web design for a Children's foundation charity event. It would involved a nice classy meal, a silent auction with amazing prizes including a 37" LCD HDTV, airfare to anywhere in Europe, canvas created by a local artist, and so on.

The idea was fantastic, the event that they decided to name "Runway Project Ottawa" was astounding. They were able to gather $10,000 for the Children's foundation and were able to do the whole event with a budget of $0! Since we donated the logo / web design to them, they asked if we wanted to be the exclusive photographers for the event, promoting our business to the fashion world. We gladly accepted and met a lot of people at the event, including Rogers TV hosts, Richard Robinson, Yellowtail representatives and more.

After a long day of shooting, we had our pictures posted on fashion news websites, webzines, which was awesome for us.

Recently, two of the "Runway Project Ottawa" event planners started their business called "The Event & Co.". Again, they approached us for a logo and web design, and then decided to include us as their vendor of choice for photography. This is great news for us! Here's a picture of the first layout presented, and a link to their actual website.

Thanks Tara and Tracie!

Halloween fun with family & friends!

We had a great trip at Saunders farm (http://www.saundersfarm.com/) with family and friends. The weather a little colder than anticipated, but the sun showed up after a couple of gray days to give us a little smile. Fun and excitement was found at the farm, where they setup a haunted house, maze and more activities along with their much anticipated wagon ride, where I think our parents had more fun than us and the kids! Right before leaving the farm, we brought pumpkin costumes for Maddox and his little girlfriend Arielle and took pictures of them in a pumpkin patch. Here's a couple of pictures taken on that day.

Enjoy!

Models needed!

Hey all,

we decided to start stock photography with the recent equipment we purchased. Having almost a full home studio, we thought that it would be a good idea to start thinking about stock photography since it could be a new challenge! On that note, we'll need male and female models for some shoots.

The shoots will be themed, so we thought that if you have a hobby, we could have a shoot with equipment / uniform used as hobbies or even careers.

Let us know if you have any ideas!

Cheers!

Maddox - October 23rd 2009

Last Friday, we decided to have another little photo shoot with our little man, Maddox. He just turned 5 months on the 23rd. We simply used black fabric we purchased at fabric land and used a SB-600 on CLS mode. We also used a DYI diffuser a.k.a a white sheet of paper on top of the flash held by an elastic band.

Shot with our Nikon D200 - 50mm f/1.8
